IT Strategy

As an IT Manager, one of the biggest challenges you face is communications. Which is nothing to do with wires and everything to do with people. You need to get your ideas across, to people who need to hear them but have neither the time nor the inclination to listen to the full story.

Why doesn’t the communication job get done? Because it takes

  • 20 minutes to say what matters
  • 2 hours to talk through what you want to say
  • 2 weeks to write it up
  • 2 months to communicate it to the people with the budget power

You can find the 20 minutes. In a good week you might even find the 2 hours. But, the 2 weeks of writing and the 2 months of communicating are impossible to find, even though the task is right there at the top of your job description.

What you need is someone to listen to the 2 hours worth, and with no more start than that, go away and do the weeks of writing and help with the months of communicating. The trouble is to do that your way, they’d have to be you.

With everything else you have on your plate, how do you find time to develop and present the communication materials you need to make your points? You spend a few hours talking to us about your strategy and the points you want to communicate. We then do the following for you:

        1. Research the points that need back up
        2. Survey your clients
        3. Bring back a draft strategy outline, informed by the research results, for your review and refinement.
        4. Draft the strategy documents, including, if needed, multimedia presentations and fully developed web pages.
        5. Refer all drafts back for your editorial sign off.
        6. Check final drafts with your choice of key clients.
        7. Deliver to your clients, polished, professional documents, backed up by a fully developed set of web pages.
        8. Provide the multimedia presentations for your communications roll out
        9. As an option deliver the presentations to your audiences.
        10. Charge you a fixed fee, agreed at the start of the process, which you pay only after you receive the final materials, and you like what you see.

You know what needs to be done, you know the points you want to make. The challenge is to find the time and energy to develop the communication materials to get your message across. We can provide that time and energy for you, at a reasonable price, which you only pay when you have the end result in your hands and you like what you see.

Some of the things we don’t do

        • Workshops.
You know what you want. So do your clients. We won’t waste your time locking you all up in a room whilst we rack up chargeable hours, going over what you all already know.
        • Charge by the hour.
We set up our fees based on delivered results. We are as invested as you are in delivering the best possible results, on time.
        • Peddle a methodology.
We are conversant with a number of formal methodologies for IT strategy development. We use those that add value when and as they do so. We won’t waste your time selling you one, or asking you to fund us whilst we invent a new one.
        • Take the credit.
When the time comes to present your ideas to your clients, the materials will not have our logo all over them. The results will be presentations of your ideas, and will read that way to your clients.
        • Teach you to suck eggs.
We are offering to help you get your ideas across. We will not be telling you what those ideas should be.
